Three Terrible Tech Ideas That Defy Taste, Logic and Common Sense

Business Technology | July 27, 2012

Bad technologies appear every day, and most quickly and quietly disappear. Unfortunately some of them stick around past their natural expiration date. Here is a list of three apps that don’t know when to call it quits. How did they come to be, why haven’t they died, and who is spending their hard-earned dollars on them?

Social Media for Your Bathroom

This one is really ludicrous. The iPoo is an app for your iPhone that is exactly what you think it is. It is specifically for people who do not want to disconnect from their friends when they are going to the bathroom. This is not something many people should want, and yet, it still exists. Have you ever heard of someone using a social network in the bathroom? This sort of networking qualifies as antisocial behavior.

Tacos Through the Air

Most of us like fast food tacos, but let’s say you are at home and want those tacos delivered?
That is where the TacoCopter comes in. They want to deliver tacos throughout California’s Silicon Valley using helicopter drones. This service is not up and running yet and we will see if it ever gets off the ground, pun intended.

A Stranger Is Only a Friend You Haven’t Met?

Don’t have enough virtual friends? The new service Airtime will help. The service mines your Facebook profile to link you with strangers who share hobbies with you. If you don’t like the stranger that Airtime sends to you, you can just click “Next” to move on to a new stranger. Of course, this assumes that you’re desperate enough for online attention that you’ll be inclined to wade through the possibly stalker-ish world of online strangers. This might be a service to avoid if you’d like to meet normal people online.
