Microsoft’s ready to hand you $200 for an old iPhone

Business Technology | October 31, 2013

Microsoft and Apple have long been rivals. Now Microsoft is pursuing consumers who have already purchased iPhones, offering them a $200 trade-in if they bring gently used iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 phones to a Microsoft store, according to a recent story by CJ Arlotta for MSPmentor.

The trade-in

According to Arlotta, customers who bring one of these gently used phones to a Microsoft store will receive a $200 gift card. They can then use this card towards anything at the store.

Not a first

This isn’t the first time that Microsoft has gone directly after Apple’s existing customers. The company previously offered the same $200 trade-in for consumers who brought in gently used iPads. Again, these consumers received a $200 gift card which they could use at a Microsoft Store.

The details

The deal does have some limitations. Arlotta writes that it’s not unlimited. The offer expires Nov. 3. Secondly, the phones submitted can’t be password-protected. Finally, Microsoft prefers – but doesn’t require – that the devices have their power cords.
