The NPR article quoted a researcher from South Carolina University who found that males who sat greater than 23 hours a week were 64 percent more likely to die from cardiovascular illnesses than were those who sat fewer than 11 hours in the average week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Good News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Want to prevent potentially fatal heart problems? Why don\u2019t you make your own standing desk? A standing desk is what it sounds like, a workspace where you stand instead of sit. If you utilize a standing desk as your main desk, you\u2019ll be eliminating much of those idle hours of sitting. And the best news? You may create your own standing desk with little effort and few dollars. The editors at Website <a href=\"http:\/\/kbit.co\/standing-desk-ikea\">Lifehacker<\/a> provided an uncomplicated recipe for creating a simple, effective standing desk. Here\u2019s the quick version of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Easy Way<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you only want a simple desk, Lifehacker suggests making a standing desk that utilizes Ikea\u2019s Utby legs. Though this desk will be smaller, you will be able to fit your laptop, monitor and keyboard easily enough on top of it. You ought to have space, too, to have a lamp and storage. To produce this desk, buy a Vika Amon Top, Utby under frame, Ekby Jarpen shelf and one set of Capita legs. You can find all these parts at Ikea for the total of about $140. Best of all? Based on the Lifehacker story, you can assemble this desk using simply a screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Bit More Complicated<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also use Ikea parts to set up a bit more complex wide standing desk, according to Lifehacker. Again, you will find the parts you require at your nearest Ikea: five Vika Byske legs, two packs of Capita brackets, one Lack shelf and one Vika Amon tabletop. These products should run you about $250. This desk gives you more room, for both your tech plus your supplies. However it will be a little more difficult to build. You will need a power drill. But don\u2019t let that scare you.
