Machines need 1GB of RAM, 16GB of hard-drive space, and a 1GHz processor to run Windows 8. If you\u2019re already running Windows 7 on your computer, don\u2019t worry. Microsoft lists the same specs for both operating systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Backups<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before starting the upgrade, ensure that all of your important files are protected. You can either store your files in a cloud service, an external hard drive or a server. If you\u2019re upgrading from it to Windows 8, you\u2019ll need to reinstall all of your drivers and software.
