The simple fact of the matter is that headlines matter. They are your first and quite often only chance to hook your reader into what you are trying to say, and in many cases, sad to say, great content goes unread merely because the writer wasn\u2019t able to convey quickly and compellingly what follows. Because we use headlines in the form of blog posts, adds, products, salespages, videos plus more, it\u2019s crucial that we learn what we\u2019re doing when it comes to writing headlines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

7 tips you can use to write better headlines<\/b><\/p>\n

  1. Use numbers and lists –<\/b> People love getting useful posts and emails listing worthwhile and useful information they need. Furthermore if this list is a numbered list<\/a>, you\u2019ll be amazed at how much better attention you\u2019ll get.<\/li>\n
  2. Hit their pain points –<\/b> Hitting on the pain points your readers experience will help gain their trust, and they’ll be more open to any solutions you may have to offer.<\/li>\n
  3. Be a bit controversial –<\/b> Be bold. State your opinions, push the edge of the envelope. Once you got their attention, you can show how brilliant you are, but for now, be daring.<\/li>\n
  4. Ask questions –<\/b> Using questions is an excellent way to pique interest. More often then not they’re the exact same questions they would ask, and would also like an answer to.<\/li>\n
  5. Mind the 55 character limit –<\/b> Two practical reasons for this: this length will safely show in the Google search results as well as your email subject line. Wouldn\u2019t it be sad if your headline got cut off?<\/li>\n
  6. Test your copy –<\/b> As with most anything you write for the masses, to get the best response you\u2018ll want to test your headlines for effect. In some cases one word can make a huge difference in an email open rate, which can in turn directly affect your income.<\/li>\n
  7. Be sure to give value –<\/b> Don\u2019t write mundane or fluff headlines. Promise and deliver a value packed piece of content. Don\u2019t promise something you’re not going to deliver, but also don\u2019t be afraid to promote it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
