Infographics have taken the world by storm, as we are all increasingly more inclined these days to process data visually than through the written word. Neuroscience explains why: according to research from 3M (maker of Post-its, among other things), 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text! So some smart person somewhere invented infographics (probably Al Gore) to help us tell our stories. Now, smart companies are utilizing these visually pleasing, data-rich illustrations to educate and engage new customers. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisducker.com\/va-infographic\/\">Here\u2019s a fantastic example<\/a> of how one online marketer is utilizing infographics to build his business.<\/p>\n<p>There are many great reasons why you should consider using infographics in your business. Here\u2019s a few:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They are easily scanned and can be visually impressive, aspects that grab the attention of web browsers today<\/li>\n<li>They are outstanding vehicles for presenting facts easily and in a neat, focused fashion.<\/li>\n<li>They help establish you as an authority on the topic<\/li>\n<li>One of the greatest benefits of using infographics is they can go viral, which can often bring about large traffic spikes and search engine benefits<\/li>\n<li>As an image, they are easily shared, and can make the rounds at many image sharing sites (according to social media expert Dan Zarrella, images have more shares and likes on Facebook than every other post type\u2014even video)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And as an example of some of the power of infographics, what better way than\u2014you guessed it\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmgagency.co.uk\/\">check out this infographic<\/a> from WebmarketingGroup.co.uk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to produce your own infographics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Want to create your own infographic for your small business? There are a growing number of sites and tools coming around now that make it easier to jump in and fashion stunning infographics. At the most basic level you can make them in PowerPoint, which is less difficult than you may imagine. If you\u2019re looking for a bit more advanced or polished option, you should look into a tool like Visual.ly, where you can modify existing templates for your needs, or possibly, use a service like PiktoChart or Infogram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if you can\u2019t design a whit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Simply outsource them. Many times we don\u2019t have the time, skills or patience to get the job done, particularly if you\u2019ve never really opened Photoshop before. Don&#8217;t worry, as there are top-notch designers willing to make your infographics for you,and for a reasonable fee. Some of these places include 99Designs, Elance, Odesk, Fiverr, and Freelancer.com.
