1. Create a Permanent Workspace

The first step in effectively working from home is creating a designated, permanent workspace. Consider setting up a desk for your computer and office supplies in an empty or spare bedroom. When establishing an area in your home to work in every day, make sure to choose a quiet location so that you can focus.

2. Invest in Quality Technology

Setting up a home office or workspace may require you to invest in new technology, such as a desktop, laptop, or tablet. It is a good idea to consider purchasing a high-performance router that will prevent you from having to deal with common network issues.

3. Use Time Management Apps

If you have a hard time staying on task while working from home, consider using a time management app to help you see your productivity levels each day and week. Doing so will provide you with insights into when you are most productive during the day, as well as how much time you are spending on each task.

4. Use Video Chat

Since working from home can get pretty lonely, it is important to make a point of chatting with colleagues, team members, or clients every day. In some cases, you may even end up spending most of your day on video conferences, chatting with your team and clients.

5. Check in with Coworkers Frequently

Taking the time to meet with your team on a regular basis will help remote employees who are missing some aspects of working in an office environment.
