It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand<br \/>\naccess to a shared pool of configurable computing resources.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In other words, by using cloud computing, we are storing our files and\/or software on someone else\u2019s computer and accessing them via the internet.\u00a0 Sounds good, right?\u00a0 A lot of people seem to think so, which is why the growing trend in business and personal computing is to convert from a static system to a cloud-based one.\u00a0 But, for those of us who aren\u2019t as familiar with the specific in\u2019s and out\u2019s of cloud computing, we might wonder what the benefits and shortcomings are.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><br \/>\nTHE BENEFITS KEEP PILING ON ONCE<br \/>\nYOU\u2019VE MOVED TO THE CLOUD<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>For starters, in the cloud, there is no need to buy server hardware, since you\u2019re storing your information elsewhere.\u00a0 Many offices will upgrade or replace their servers every five years in order to adequately serve company needs.\u00a0 That\u2019s one cost that can be eliminated from the budget.\u00a0 Not to mention the physical space that is free\u2019d up when old servers are removed.\u00a0 And remember that humming noise you used to hear in the hallway?\u00a0 Gone.\u00a0 The dull hum of your server\u2019s fans will no longer be a problem.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits keep piling on once you\u2019ve moved to the cloud.\u00a0 Your storage limits are entirely scalable, meaning that it\u2019s quite easy to add or remove storage capacity when needed.\u00a0 While physical servers can be upgraded, they do reach a ceiling, when no more storage can be added.\u00a0 This can be especially dangerous for businesses whose storage needs fluctuate as contracts close and new clients are taken on.\u00a0 With most providers, you only pay for what you need; some will even alert you when you\u2019re in need of a top up.\u00a0 Not only that, but if you\u2019re running software through the cloud, installing updates or setting up new software is simple, since all your workstations point to the same source.\u00a0 There should no longer be the need to assemble a project team to oversee software implementation.<\/p>\n<p>So is moving to the cloud right for you?\u00a0 Everyone\u2019s situation is different but if you have questions please feel free to contact us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHAT IS THE CLOUD?
